Jacqueline Francis Till

In the early morning of December 13, 2014, Jackie passed away peacefully of natural causes. At that time she was being visited and comforted by her two sons at Marshall Medical Center North in Guntersville, AL. She was 85 years old. Jackie was born on July 9, 1929 at St. Vincent hospital in Birmingham, Alabama and was the second child of Francis and Clyde Lovelady. She was a beautiful child and grew up in Birmingham with her parents and her brother Richard. She attended Woodlawn High School and was involved in many activities. She was a tap dancer and loved to dance. Jackie attended Howard College and after high school worked for Liberty Mutual in Birmingham. She was a city girl and met Edward Till in 1948 who she would marry in 1950. In 1953 she had her first child, Bruce and three years later her second son, Barry. They lived in Birmingham until 1956 before moving to Guntersville. Jackie always loved children which lead her to be a cofounder of Jack & Jill Pre-school at the First United Methodist Church where she co-owned and taught for 20 years. She was a wonderful mentor of hundreds of children in those years and she found that her involvement in that endeavor was a labor of love. She was active in the community and was a charter member and served as president of The Pilot Club as well as other organizations. She loved to swim, exercise and was an avid bridge player. She enjoyed helping others and loved her family very much. Although small in stature she had a huge heart. Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Till; father, Henry Clyde Lovelady; mother, Francis Lovelady; and, brother, Richard Lovelady. She was survived by sons, Bruce Till of Huntsville and son, Barry Till and his wife, Jane Till and his son Wyatt Till of Carbondale, Colorado. No flowers but ask if appropriate donations be made to Wounded Warriors. Visitation will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Guntersville on Tuesday, December 16 at 10 am with service at 11am. Burial will be in Birmingham at Forest Hill Cemetery at 1:30pm. A special thanks to all her neighbors and friends who were so kind and generous by giving their time and attention to her during her illness.
