Mr. Leonard L Knight

Mr. Leonard L. Knight, age 76, of Arab, passed away Thursday December 8, 2022, at Marshall Medical Center North. Leonard L. Knight was born July 10, 1946. He was the only son of Celie and Henry Knight. Leonard was predeceased by four sisters Viola Brawley, Bertha Ramsey, Beatrice Knight, Martha Canida. Leonard joined the army right out of high school as a radio man. He was badly wounded while out with his platoon serving in Vietnam. He ended up in a full body cast followed by a year in the hospital. He received the Purple Heart from being wounded in combat. Leonard was a tradesman's that did mig and tig welding. Leonard married his bride, Jo Ann Webb shortly following him getting out of trades school on August 10, 1969. JoAnn worked at NASA and Leonard worked C.A. Langford and company as a machinist and welder. Over the years they have travelled to England, France and after retirement Alaska multiple times in their RV because Leonard fell in love with the scenery. Leonard was a kindhearted gentle soul that would help anyone he thought may need it. Anyone that knew him will tell you about his love for his hobbies. Some being coin collecting, gardening, collecting tools...his thought being "I may need that one day", and his love for gold panning. Leonard will be sorely missed by all who knew him. Graveside service will be Monday December 12, 2022, at 2pm at Cox-Gilbreath Cemetery. Pallbearers Allison Sweeney, Jake Sweeney, Ty Phillips, Chris Webb, and Cecil Canida. Leonard was preceded in death by parents, John Henry Knight and Cellie Folsom Knight; sisters, Viola Brawley (Samuel), Bertha Ramsey (deceased daughter Kay Thompson), Beatrice Knight, Martha Canida. He is survived by wife, JoAnn Knight, sister-in-law, Nita Webb; Deceased sister Violas family Margaret Smallwood and Sandy Browley; deceased sister Bertha Ramseys family Sheila Tompkins, Jack Ramsey, Lenn Ramsey; Deceased sister Beatrice Knights family Dale Knight; Deceased sister Martha Canida family Cecil Canida; Niece, LeiAnn Phillips (Ty) and family Jake Sweeney, Allison Sweeney, Taylor Phillips; nephew, Chris Webb (Tiffany) and family Dylan Webb, Kathryn Webb.
