Ellen Ann Spurgeon

Ellen Ann Spurgeon August 16, 1958 – July 30, 2024 Ellen Fuller Spurgeon of Guntersville passed away leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Ellen was born in Sanford FL. The Navy transferred her family to San Diego (Poway) CA in 1965. She graduated from Poway High School, class of 1976. Ellen was active in Choir and sang with the Die Lieder classical vocal ensemble. She attended Palomar College where she was involved in choral music. Ellen met the love of her life, Charles Spurgeon, and the two were married in October 1979, beginning a journey together filled with joy and companionship. The couple moved to California in 1982. Ellen worked for the Zoological Society of San Diego in the education department. Her three sons were born in CA during that time. They moved to Guntersville AL in 1993 and settled in their final home on Lewis Mountain. Ellen worked for Walmart for28 years. She was chosen to represent her store at the stockholders meeting in Bentonville, AK. Ellen was active at the First Baptist Church in Guntersville and sang in the choir and ensemble. Ellen loved her Lord, her family and Laura Ingalls Wilder, not necessarily in that order. She made numerous road trips to visit home sites and museums of the Wilder family. Ellen and Charles made special trips each October to celebrate their anniversary. Her favorites spots were at the beach or the mountains. Her favorites times were spent with her seven grandchildren who adored her gentle spirit and generous heart. In addition to her husband, Charles, Ellen is survived by her three sons, Ryan (Christy) Greg (Sally), and Eric (Rainakate) and a proud grandmother to her seven amazing grandchildren: Addyson, Alex, Brayden, Ellarain, Erica, Claire & Eliza. She is also survived by her mother, Pat Fuller of Poway CA; her sisters Kaye Baake (Carlsbad CA), Donna Spurgeon (Hudson MI), and Jan San Nicolas, (Poway CA). She had many nieces and nephews, relatives near and far, and friends who all remember Ellen’s beautiful soul, her joyous song and spirit of adventure. She was predeceased by her father, Kent Fuller and her sister, Anita DelosReyes. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to any children’s hospital or the charity of your choice.
